Organisations certified to AS/NZS 4801:2001 are required to transition to AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 – the recognised standard adopted by Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand. The transition was originally to occur by 12 September 2021, however this was extended by JAS-ANZ to 13 July 2023.
ISO 45001 specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system in order for an organisation to improve occupational health and safety, eliminate hazards and minimise OH&S risks within their operations. The standard brings a systems-based approach to workplace health and safety across every industry in Australia and New Zealand.
The ISO 45001:2018 standard has been developed to be compatible with ISO 9001:2015 Quality and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems in an integrated management system, making the transition easier for organisations with existing ISO certified systems.
The greatest asset in any business is its people. For some industries, neglecting OHS can be dangerous.
