In just over two years, Edge has grown from a garage-based start-up to a business delivering large-scale projects with a workforce of nearly 400 casual employees.
From the beginning, the leadership team at Edge had a strong vision. They understood that growth would take more than determination. It would require the right systems to create consistency and meet the demands of multiple industries.
Working across civil and rail construction as well as labour hire, the business faced a complex mix of compliance, safety, and quality requirements. As they expanded, the need to formalise systems became clear. They wanted to scale with purpose, not chaos.
Edge also set out to challenge the typical construction model. Their focus was on building a company that combined structure and innovation, while treating people with care and respect.
To support their next phase, Edge partnered with Southpac Certifications to certify their management systems to three international standards:
Rather than treating certification as a formality, Edge used the process to align their systems with the culture they were shaping. The goal was not just to meet requirements, but to embed clear, repeatable ways of working that reflected their values and supported long-term success.
The company’s growth has been impressive:
Edge now manages a labour pool of more than 380 casual workers, including skilled tradespeople, electricians, welders, and operators. Their teams work across Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Canberra, and Rockhampton.
Formal management systems have helped the business stay consistent and adaptable across a wide range of locations and project types. Certification supports their ability to take on new opportunities with confidence.
Edge’s leadership remains actively involved on the ground, working alongside their teams and modelling the values they want to see. This approach has helped build a culture of shared responsibility, fairness, and collaboration.
At the same time, the business is embracing technology. Edge continues to explore how digital tools and AI can streamline their operations, without losing the strong human connection that drives their success.
Edge is preparing to expand nationally, with plans to enter markets in Western Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory.
With robust systems in place and a clear sense of purpose, Edge Rail Solutions is well positioned to grow while maintaining the standards and culture that define their business.
