General
Audit duration is determined by a number of factors, including the size of the company, staff breakdown, number of sites and organisational scope – which is categorised by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JASANZ).
Outside of the audit duration costs, there are certain expenses such as airfares, mileage, accommodation and travel time, that may be required to be paid. This is dependent on each client and auditor, and will be worked out on a case by case basis.
No, you only pay once you’ve completed Stage 1 and 2, on certification. You will receive your certificates on receipt of payment.
Southpac Certifications does not charge any fees to transfer your certification to us. However, we recommend you review your current provider’s terms and conditions as they may charge you cancellation fees if you cancel mid cycle, or if you do not give sufficient notice or have already booked your next audit. Importantly, if you transfer to us, we will pick up your certification cycle wherever it is at. You will not be required to restart the full audit cycle when you transfer.
If your system is implemented and ready for audit, certification can happen quickly provided our auditors have time in their schedule. There is generally anything from a 2 – 6 week gap in between your Stage 1 review and Stage 2 certification audit. You can discuss your options and timeline with our team.
If you require certification urgently for a contract, we can prepare a quote for you and send you a letter of engagement upon payment of an initial deposit. This will often satisfy the contract requirements, showing that you have engaged a Certification Body and are now in the process to soon become certified.
Southpac Certifications has staff and contract auditors located right across Australia and New Zealand. Where available, we will always try to use an auditor located near to your closest capital city, which helps you save on any additional travel costs. However, if you request a specific auditor and they are required to travel to audit your business, additional travel costs will be incurred.
We aim to provide you with the same auditor so there is continuity with your audits and within your business. You are always welcome to discuss your preferred auditor with our team.
You will be assigned a Certification Coordinator who will work with you to schedule your audits and help with any other questions that may arise at any time.
Once you have successfully completed your Stage 2 certification audit and your certificates have been issued, the certification marks will be presented to you along with a ‘Terms and Conditions of Use’ guide. Unlike other providers we do not charge you to use our certification marks in your business marketing.
As a Certification Body, we cannot provide consulting services to develop or prepare your management systems, as we are an impartial third party auditor. However our Business Development Manager can offer advice on who to recommend, based on where you are and what industry you are in.

ISO 9001
Quality Management Systems
ISO 9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organisations use the standard to demonstrate their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
ISO 9001 certification is suitable for any organisation, regardless of its size or the sector it operates in, that wishes to improve its operational performance and demonstrate high levels of quality assurance.
Benefits include improved quality and efficiency, higher customer satisfaction levels, enhanced credibility and competitiveness in the market, and potentially lower costs due to reduced waste and improved operational efficiency.
To begin the certification process, your organisation needs to implement a quality management system (QMS) that complies with the requirements of ISO 9001. This involves designing processes and procedures that meet the standard's criteria. Once you have your system implemented, request a quote from our team at Southpac Certifications, and we will prepare a proposal for your certification.
Becoming ISO 9001 certified is a two-stage process. Stage 1 includes a documentation review by your auditor, who will determine your readiness to progress to the Stage 2 audit, which is generally carried out onsite at your premises. Once you are certified, your auditor will return for annual surveillance audits in Years 2 and 3, before a re-certification audit the following year to restart the certification cycle.
If your Quality Management System is implemented and ready for audit, certification can generally take 1 – 2 months, depending on how prepared you are for the Stage 2 certification audit, and your auditor's availability.
There is typically anything from a 2 – 6 week gap in between your Stage 1 review and Stage 2 certification audit. You can discuss your options and timeline with our team.
ISO 14001:2015
Environmental Management Systems
ISO 14001:2015 is an international standard for an Environmental Management System (EMS) used to improve environmental performance through efficient resource use and waste reduction.
ISO 14001:2015 certification is suitable for any organisation, regardless of size or sector, that aims to improve its environmental performance and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and regulatory compliance.
Benefits include improved environmental performance, compliance with legal requirements, increased efficiency, waste reduction, enhanced stakeholder trust, and potential cost savings from efficient resource use and waste management.
The first step is to implement an Environmental Management System (EMS) that complies with ISO 14001:2015 requirements by designing processes and procedures that meet the standard's criteria. Then contact Southpac Certifications for a quote to get your system certified.
ISO 14001 certification involves two stages: Stage 1 is a documentation review, and Stage 2 is an onsite audit. Following your initial certification, the auditor will return for a surveillance audit in years 2 and 3, followed by a re-certification audit the following year to commence the cycle again.
Maintaining Environmental Management System certification requires ongoing compliance with the ISO 14001:2015 standard, including regular internal audits, annual surveillance audits and a re-certification audit every three years.
ISO 45001:2018
Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
ISO 45001:2018 is an international standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system. Organisations use the standard to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks, and create safer working conditions.
ISO 45001:2018 certification is suitable for organisations of any size or sector that aim to improve workplace safety, demonstrate a commitment to employee well-being, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Benefits of ISO 45001:2018 certification include improved workplace safety, compliance with legal requirements, reduced workplace incidents, increased employee morale, and enhanced stakeholder trust.
To begin the certification process, your organisation needs to implement an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) that complies with ISO 45001:2018 requirements. This involves designing and implementing processes and procedures that address risk management, hazard identification, and incident response to create a safer workplace.
ISO 45001:2018 certification involves two stages: Stage 1 is a documentation review, and Stage 2 is an onsite audit. Following your initial certification, your auditor will return for a surveillance audit in years 2 and 3, followed by a re-certification audit the following year to commence the cycle again.
ISO 27001
Information Security Management Systems
ISO 27001:2022 is the international standard for an information security management system (ISMS) used to manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details, and information entrusted by third parties.
ISO 27001:2022 certification is suitable for organisations of any size or sector that seek to improve information security, exhibit a commitment to data protection, and ensure regulatory compliance.
The benefits of achieving ISO 27001:2022 certification include enhanced information security, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, increased credibility and trust with customers and partners, and a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
To begin the certification process, your organisation needs to implement an information security management system (ISMS) that complies with ISO 27001:2022 requirements. ISO 9001, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
Integrated Management System Certification
An Integrated Management System (IMS) integrates multiple management systems, including ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), into a single cohesive framework to streamline processes, reduce duplication, and improve overall efficiency.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed Management System Standards with Annex SL – a uniform, high-level structure, identical core text and common terms and core definitions across complementary Management System Standards.
This means organisations can more easily integrate the three most common standards (Quality, Safety and Environment) into one Integrated Management System, as well as having the scope to add additional standards, such as ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems. Benefits include improved efficiency by reducing redundancies, enhanced compliance with multiple standards, better resource management, streamlined audits, and improved organisational performance across Quality, Safety and Environment.
An Occupational Health and Safety Management System requires a specific policy, as well as specific goals and objectives related to health and safety management. There are also specific requirements for hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance related to workplace safety laws. While a QMS focuses on quality and customer satisfaction, an OHSMS emphasises employee safety and health.
An Environmental Management System (EMS) requires a specific policy, as well as specific goals and objectives related to environmental management; an Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register; resource use optimisation; waste management; and evidence of regulatory compliance related to environmental laws. While a Quality Management System (QMS) focuses on quality and customer satisfaction, an EMS emphasises sustainability and environmental stewardship.
